In 1976 I started working time and while in the dredging industry at “De Klop” shipyard in Sliedrecht, heart of the international dredging business. In 1978 I had a part time job at Van Oord’s Dredging VO2, preparing a self emptying system in one of their hopper dredges. After graduation from Technical University in Delft in 1981, chair of prof. ir. Jan de Koning, I worked full time with Van Oord, then based in Utrecht, mainly project management and some newbuilding. Later I changed to Broekhoven which in 1990 merged with Ballast Nedam Dredging. We did a great job in Chek Lap Kok, Hong Kong in 1992 where I was the deputy technical manager. In 2002 I joined Van Woerkom, Nobels & ten Veen and did maritime surveys and consults for various clients all over the world. In 2018 I retired, but I am still active as you can see.
